The challenge of the CEO was to transform a capital starved start up software firm that had developed unique and powerful model-based software solutions to some highly levered airline problems. One of the Company's solutions (real time irregular operations recovery) won the coveted Edelman prize with Continental Airlines for the most effective application of OR. The company lacked marketing expertise and was struggling to deliver on their promises to its clients. Tom replaced the management team, transformed the development and delivery process and successfully marketed the software to a number of major airlines. Once the transformation was accomplished the company was successfully sold.

Helped grow the travel and transportation practice worldwide by providing in depth travel and transportation experience and leadership to the practice. Served primarily as a consultant's consultant mostly in the area of airlines and analytics. Worked with airlines in the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe and the Middle East and Africa.

Merged a very successful consulting and software solutions subsidiary of AMR Corp. (AADT) with the internal applications development division of Sabre (Sabre Development Services) into one integrated company (Sabre Decision Technologies) focused on the travel and transportation industry. SDT created and implemented software solutions for virtually every airline function from PSS, to Scheduling, to Pricing and Revenue Management, Crew resources, Airport systems, Maintenance and Engineering etc.American Airlines remained the largest among the company's hundreds of other clients. During this time, SDT won the Edelman Prize for the solution that SDT developed for SNCF, the French railroad. SDT was eventually merged with Sabre Computer Services division to form a $1 billion IT services company named Sabre Technology Solutions (STS). Tom was president of STS when he left AMR.

Founded and led a wholly owned subsidiary of AMR Corp that provided analytics based consulting and software solutions to the travel and transportation industry. AADT grew from being the internal department within AA to become the dominant company in providing analytics based solutions to the travel and transportation industries. Most progressive companies in the travel and transportation space were clients of AADT.

Transformed a small (12 person) OR group that was having limited impact on the performance of the airline into the largest private sector OR group that won the ORSA prize for being the most effective OR group in the world. In addition to providing industry leading applications of OR, the group served as the an internal consulting group helping senior management make complex nonrecurring and often strategic decisions. Because of this group, American Airlines won the 1991 Edelman Prize for the most important application of OR.
