In a career of helping competing interests to communicate to consensus and to negotiate practical solutions that serve the common good, Tom is most proud of: his service to the Cleveland Public Library and the thirty-seven years of cooperation he helped initiate with the nine library systems in the region; his restoring and reorganizing of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency, the principal transportation and environmental planning agency for five counties of NE Ohio; his litigation success on behalf of the City of Cleveland water system, the City of Lakewood, and numerous individual clients; his participation in the negotiation of more than a dozen collective bargaining agreements and his sustaining, in separate arbitrations, the terminations of three public employees while having helped more than a dozen others obtain last chance agreements. Tom also serves as a leader of the Irish American Archives Society. Tom was a Democratic nominee for the Ohio Senate 25th District in 1978 and a candidate for Common Pleas Judge in 1994. He greatly enjoyed his clerkship with Mr. Justice Tom C.
