About Thomas D. Allison
When I was a boy, I wanted to be the first Black President of the United States (Thanks Obama!). Before becoming president, I wanted to be a prominent attorney with a reputation of community service and incredible courtroom skills. While the reality of politics has sobered my presidential aspirations, my professional ambition in law has remained steady. I have strived to position myself in the best places possible to “leave my mark” on the legal profession in as profound a way as possible. I am among the best lawyers history has had the pleasure of hosting. I have a natural and deep fascination with how a human functions individually and humanity functions holistically. This fascination spurred in me a profound empathy. Wanting to understand humanity so I could best serve humanity has been the driving force to my education and subsequent professional pursuits. I have spent 20 years acquiring an incredible education, achieving a bachelor's degree in business, juris doctorate, master’s degree in public administration, and doctorate degree in public administration, along with 13 licenses and certifications. With this education, I became an attorney and started a successful law firm that I ran for ten years and expanded to five states, a tenured university professor and traveled the world as a debate and mock trial coach of award-winning programs, a university research fellow and recognized as a faculty scholar, and started a nonprofit organization that was awarded the 2020 California Nonprofit of the Year award. I have served in many community service positions, including as a judge pro tem, planning commissioner, and board member. I have hosted more than 200 community programs, represented hundreds of clients in almost 100 court trials and 8 jury trials, presided over thousands of cases as a judge pro tem, have taught more than 60 college courses, and served on 15 different boards and commissions. Now I look to accomplish marvelous things in Family Law as a senior family law attorney at Schank & Associates, APC. Through this position I provide intelligent and strategic representation as a family law litigator in hopes of being the champion and advocate that my clients need. Through my nonprofit, Social Justice Advocacy Project, Inc., I seek to create a system of scalable legal services that provides the public access to the protections of the law. I play a role in training legal professionals by teaching legal research and writing, litigation, ethics, critical race theory, and family law as a tenured professor at the University of La Verne.
