I wrote the fine arts BFA Degrees as Chair of the Fine, Digital and Performing Arts programs at Shawnee State University. The program grew from 37 majors its first year to 325 majors currently. I was the chief faculty liaison for visualizing, designing and constructing the ($19MM)Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at Shawnee State.I was the first winner of the peer awarded Distinguished Teaching Award at Shawnee State University and also winner of the Outstanding Educator Advancing Information Technology Award (TIGAR AWARD) for 2004 by ITTAO in Athens, OH. After retiring from full-time teaching. I was selected to be Associate Dir.for Education with the $5.2MM Ohio WIRED Grant (US Dept. of Labor) until the grant's expiration in July 2010. During that two year period I built a virtual world training /visualization demonstration project on power plants and the Grid that subsequently won first place in the 2010 world-wide competition (Federal Virtual World Challenge) sponsored by the US military in the visualization category. (YouTube searches, Power Plant Orientation and Training and Wavoka1)I have since turned my expertise into developing virtual classroom space models for Shawnee State University. Students could enter these spaces through their web browsers with free avatars and engage from anywhere on the planet using broadband. Learning experiences as diverse as architecture, fine arts, poetry, oceanography, wetlands preservation, green energy, tourism development, etc. were developed in the virtual environment (see YouTube, search Wavoka1). Shawnee State is a natural for virtual world development as its two game development degree programs (which I co-authored in 2001) were rated in the the top 7 among 500 programs in the US and Canada by the Princeton Review in 2011& 2012/13.
