Party And Tween Games Intern, Adult/Strategy Games Intern
Pawtucket, Ri, Us
During my first internship at Hasbro, I worked with the Party and Tween Games team that produces Trivial Pursuit, Jenga, Bop It, Risk and other party games. I enjoyed brainstorming and sketching the Bop It 2016 form and then creating full scale, laser cut mock-ups of Bop It to experiment with form in-hand. Many aspects of the concept design carried over into the finished product, including the overall form expressing motion, the "pull it" handle based off of an umbrella handle, and "twist It" knob form. The final Bop It 2016 for sale now is similar to the form created in these mock up stages. Sketched concepts for trivial pursuit game piece and produced prototypes/concepts for alternative versions of Jenga. Collaborated with engineers to develop design concepts. At my second internship, I worked on the Adult and Strategy Games team, researching board and card game structures and mechanics, constant brainstorming, concept generation and presentation of new board game concepts based on Star Wars and Marvel storylines. In-depth research of both universes' rich and detailed led to rich story-related game concepts and contraptions. Both internships included heavy concept ideation, gathering inspiration, researching previous and competing games, brainstorming, prototyping, constructing and presenting new game and product ideas.
