My time at University has enabled me to develop many key skills that are necessary to be successful in today’s working environment. These skills include:Research skills: I developed these throughout my degree but especially when undertaking my final year dissertation, which required extensive research into my chosen field of study, and I had to examine hundreds of pages of various documents and highlight which bits of information I could use to support my argument.Planning skills: The essays, group assignments and my final year dissertation all required elements of planning, as I would need to map out what needed doing before the assignment in terms of research, and also how I was going to structure the assignment so that I could complete it on time.Organisational skills: These were thoroughly developed throughout my course, as I had to ensure all of my documents and research were fully organised so that if I needed to refer back to them I would know where to look and what to look for. I also had to ensure all of my assignments were handed in on time which meant my timekeeping was improved and I am used to working to a deadline.My working life outside of University has mainly consisted of customer service based roles. These roles have helped me increase my confidence in speaking to customers and also how to handle difficult situations involving customers. I have worked in an Outdoor clothing store where I had to engage with customers and identify their needs, then point them to the correct products.Some of my hobbies and interests include running, bouldering and cooking.
