After completing his Masters Degree in Structural Engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT), Thomas worked as a Site Engineer for one of South Africa’s largest Construction Companies. He joined Arup Consulting Engineers in 2016 as a Structural Engineer in the Industrial Projects Division. He has worked on a variety of projects and has gained experience in construction project management, tendering and procurement, cost management and reporting, programming, estimating and structural design. Thomas was also involved with the Arup Special Projects Division and gained experience in forensic engineering, reporting and repair design. Thomas is currently a Director of Viva Projects JHB which specialises in the provision and execution of turnkey concrete frame solutions. Thomas is the Director of a specialist development company within the Viva Group called Teakcon. The company was established in 2018 as an exclusive development company with expertise in the engineering and construction of up-market, off-grid, residential houses and associated infrastructure. Thomas is also a Director of Viva Properties JHB, which is the latest addition to the Viva Group and implements a number of in-house development projects in the warehouse and affordable housing markets. His core capabilities include: concrete repairs, construction management, reinforced concrete design and construction, structural steel design, dynamic analysis, finite element analysis, technical report writing, residential, commercial and industrial developments.
