The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board works with employers and training providers to give the engineering construction industry workforce the skills it needs to meet the challenges of the future.We invest around £25 million each year supporting employers to attract, develop and qualify their people in a wide range of craft, technical and professional disciplines.

I have been appointed by to serve a three year term on The Scottish Civil Justice Council. The Council is established under the Scottish Civil Justice Council and Criminal Legal Assistance Act 2013. It prepares draft rules of procedure for the civil courts and advises the Lord President on the development of the civil justice system in Scotland. The Scottish Civil Justice Council replaced the Court of Session Rules Council and the Sheriff Court Rules Council, taking over the rule drafting functions of those bodies and also has a wider role to advise and make recommendations on the civil justice system.

The Trust works to support and initiate projects and activities across a wide range of arts, sport, recreation, education, heritage, community and welfare. The Trust is governed by Royal Charter through a Board of twenty Trustees who meet every two months to consider the business of the Trust including applications for grants. In addition the Trust is responsible for the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum which has recently undergone a major refurbishment and upgrading programme.

I am a Director on the Board of Trustees for Fife Law Centre. The Fife Law Centre is a team of solicitors who provide free legal advice and representation for the people in Fife who need it most.

I led on all engagement with key external audiences across the nations and regions of the UK, on behalf of Which?’s 1.5 million members and supporters. This engagement has included developing existing relationships in Scotland and establishing new relationships with Key Opinion Formers in Wales, Northern Ireland, and the regions of England. I lead on our to work to position Which? as a key consumer voice across governments and with key political influencers, to shape national and local government thinking on key consumer issues, as well as identifying target audiences and develop and deliver high level proactive engagement programmes with key influencers and decision makers across tiers of government. I also act as our primary spokesperson to devolved administrations, engaging directly with Ministers and parliamentary committees.

Providing oversight and leadership at Which?'s stakeholder engagement at the UK level. Driving a proactive programme of engagement with key external audiences, including politicians, civil servants and regulators. Ensuring that our stakeholder engagement is in line with strategy and and needs of key teams internally. Providing advice on best practice in engagement and ensure support from across the whole organisation is utilised appropriately.Supporting Managing Directors and Research, Publishing and Policy teams on our engagement with corporates and key stakeholders, particularly in promoting our products and services. Working closely with Campaign Managers to support any stakeholder engagement that is needed for the delivery of their campaigns.

Developing and delivering key consumer campaigns in Scotland. Identifying proposals that will impact consumers, responding to key debates on consumer issues, representing Scottish consumers and raising the visibility of Which? as the consumer voice across the UK. Networking, engaging and influencing key decision makers, ensuring that policy and campaigns gain traction. Working closely with the Campaigns and Policy teams to identify engagement opportunities, and drive forward the change agenda through policy and parliamentary legislation.

Delivering parliamentary and stakeholder influencing strategies, anticipating opportunities and risks for the Commission. Ensuring the provision of accurate, timely advice and briefings including submissions to Government reviews and Select Committees. Briefings for parliamentarians on legislation on a range of issues.Developing a strategy for positioning the Commission as the essential point of contact for parliamentarians, the media and policy makers.

Providing advice to clients on communications, public affairs, stakeholder mapping and engagement.Assisting clients with the development and delivery of operational communications plans.Delivering seminars on the parliamentary process.

As a Shadow Minister I led for the Front Bench opposition team on the Environment and the Business of the Commons. As a member of a number of select committees, I analysed government policies on a range of subjects, took evidence from a range of industry figures, providers, NGOs, lobbyists and stakeholders with a view to informing committee enquiries and reports.

I developed and delivered communication and public affairs strategies for high profile projects in Scotland and the North East of England - from securing planning permission to supporting sales and marketing campaigns.

I was responsible for drafting and implementing communications plans for major civil engineering projects in Scotland, including the completion of the repainting of the Forth Bridge, the Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link Bill and a range of refurbishments works including temporary line closures. I built support within a range of stakeholders including politicians, media and residents affected by the projects.

Based in Scotland as part of the senior management team at Chapelcross Power Station, I was tasked with preparing the workforce, political & media stakeholders, and the surrounding communities for the cessation of electricity generation and subsequent decommissioning.
