Local currency cash pools include the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, and Japan. Effective cash management has resulted in a $900 million reduction in debt and approximately $15 million in interest savings. These strategies have resulted in significant foreign exchange gains. - Develop and manage the transition of employee pension plan from defined benefit to defined contribution for all UK employees. These tasks include investment reviews as well as, actuarial management.- Lead the design and implementation of a client credit database. This database centralized the world wide credit expsoure for Interpublic and all of our subsidiaries creating a credit monitoring and approval system. The system current monitors over 12,000 clients with credit exoposure in excess of $4 billion. -
Manager Foreign Exchange & Risk ManagementInterpublic Group Aug 2000 - Jul 2004New York, Ny, Us- Manage foreign exchange portfolio executing Spot, Forward, and Option transactions in excess of $1.5 billion per year. These transactions were mostly used for acquisitions, local payments and funds repatriation. This required monitoring over 95 currencies and trading over 40 currencies.- Developed and executed monthly hedge documentation complying with risk management policy and FAS 133/138. This documentation was used to ensure hedge accounting treatment of derivatives for foreign exchange contracts and interest rate swaps.- Developed and monitored monthly intercompany loan portfolio documenting each loan. This portfolio was used as a vehicle to repatriate cash from international operations. Cash repatriation appeared in the form of debt payments, interest payments or dividends. - Created international cash pools to minimize interest expense and maximize interest income for overseas operations. These virtual pools were established on a net basis within the country of origin.- Monitored credit needs for Latin and Central America agencies creating bank loans and parent guarantees to ensure local liquidity needs are met.- Assisted with the analysis, negotiation, and execution of bond issuance’s / credit agreements. These tasks included ensuring the accuracy of the SEC filings and bond prospectus.
