Thomas Donovan is a Retired Consultant at Family and our Friends. He possess expertise in business intelligence, requirements analysis, data analysis, quality assurance, project management and 18 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I had the pleasure of working with Tom Donovan for about fifteen years. Tom is an incredibly talented engineer. Tom’s expertise is in hardware and software engineering and data management and analytics. Tom not only excels with information technology; he is a master with data management and data analytics. At our company we have a role called Data Steward which is responsible for the design, integrity, and application of data. I have always perceived Tom as the ultimate, model Data Steward because he understands data modeling, and analytics, and the business side of data better than anyone I know. Tom’s expertise touches every person in Tom’s organization and beyond. Every person in the organization has sought and benefited from Tom’s expertise. Tom is patient and takes responsibility to help others build expertise and to help develop organizational capability. It’s a weekly (probably closer to daily) occurrence that someone across the business is seeking Tom’s help. Tom is one of the hardest working, smartest people I know. Every time I talk with Tom, I learn something. When problems arise with production issues, or project schedule pressures, or stakeholder expectations, you can count on Tom to stick in there until the matter is successfully resolved. And you can count on Tom to see things that others miss; he sees them because is he able to understand complex matters, connect the dots, and imagine solutions. Tom’s character goes beyond the workplace. I don’t know how Tom does it (given his dedicated and determination at work), but Tom somehow finds the time and energy for deep and meaningful public service. Tom has earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award for Volunteering. Tom has a saying that goes something like “everything can be fixed”. Well, I’ve seen Tom apply this thinking a number of times with helping non-profit, community organizations fix broken electronics for example. I smile when I think of Tom because in fifteen years of knowing Tom, I have truly enjoyed working with Tom. Like parents, I suppose we aren’t supposed to say that we have favorites. But Tom is a favorite. Why? For all the reasons mentioned above.
