My primary duty was the processing of requisitions – made by all areas of the county council – into orders. These requisitions could range from stationery items to acquiring infrastructural services such as road works. I was responsible for ensuring that all requisitions coming through to the Buyer Hub were compliant with the council’s protocols. If a requisition held a value in excess of £10,000, I would be required to ascertain whether a contract existed between the council and the provider or, alternatively, establish if a waiver had been procured to permit the purchase. If this could not be ascertained, I would need to speak the person making the requisition – as well as senior management - to establish that the correct procedures had been observed.I was also responsible for maintaining numerous large Excel databases pertaining to these requisitions and would use the data for compiling monthly stats for the Buyer Hub’s senior management to study.

I served as a point of contact for members of the public, as well as authors and agents, concerning the availability of titles and processing orders. I also worked alongside the editor of the Good Pub Guide in helping to secure subscriptions for the 2019 edition of the guide.

I addressed queries (via phone and webchat) from medical professionals concerning the eligibility and approval of treatments for patients, invoicing and payment queries, and providing technical assistance for Bupa’s online platforms.

I was a point of contact for members of the public to advise about power outages or electrical emergencies. I was also responsible for answering general queries and for logging reports of accidents and emergencies from company staff.
