After spending the beginning of my career in the startup world, working with companies in Techstars, Silicon Valley, and all over the world—I joined Motel. We are a skilled, quirky team spread all over the world. We pride ourselves in using a hands-on, human-centered design approach.When I'm not working on client work at Motel: designing interfaces, prototyping interactions, and architecting CSS, I spend my time doing "a little bit of everything" as it is best described. I'm a generalist, creating value by combining design and engineering. Here's a bit more about what I work on:Leading R&D at Motel. We're investing heavily in Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed reality applications. As well as technologies involving deep learning, sound design, and other rarely-touched technologies by many standard design/dev shops. Our goal is to deliver a complete experience, and designing/building with the latest technology pushes the envelope for what we deliver to clients.Leading high-level discussions: Values, Vision, and what problems we decide to solve. While I'm not much for "vision statements", I'm deeply passionate about high-level thinking and having the right goals in place before any work is done. I believe this type of work can transform an organization or product: making sure the right meaning is in place first. Building, exploring, and delivering prototypes start to finish. Remember when I said I was a generalist? I enjoy building bare, but well-designed prototypes using a mixture of skills I've learned over the years. At Motel we design, build and grow products. When working on projects, I lean on my design-heavy background while delivering really, really good tech. We specialize in web applications using the following technologies: React, Ember (also playing with Vue), Node, Phoenix/Elixir, and Rails.

At Radius, I began my employment mapping and creating flows, leaning on my UX-heavy background. Radius is changing a dormant industry and bringing it into the age of technology, so much of the work was breaking poor patterns that had been created in CRM tech. Responsibilities during my time at Radius: - Create flows and interface designs of new features, mocking up in Sketch- Think-through and document improvements on existing flows and features- Write HTML and CSS to prototype and test these designs- Architect SCSS using BEM naming for the production application- Write Javascript (Angular) for interactions and flows

At Audacious I started by contributing to the core product: re-designing and building features in the Javascript/JQuery + Rails environment. Over time, my role transformed to leading more product direction, I created a set of core design principles, as well as a digital UI kit with reusable code chunks.Through this work, we developed several prototypes testing different verticals, different takes on the product itself, and analytics-heavy one-off landing pages.

At Birdbox I joined for the summer 2012 Techstars program in Boulder, CO. I was assigned to build a desktop application (similar to Dropbox) that would pull images from different social accounts: Dropbox, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
