On a monthly/quarterly basis, I lead the forecasting/budget process, present to the VPs on the company’s actual performance compared to budget and assist the accounting department in our required monthly closing process. This requires on going communication and analysis with division Cost Account Managers (CAMs) on current performance. If any risks are identified, I will work with the CAMs to mitigate them and capitalized on any opportunities. In some cases, other divisions are asked to absorb costs based on my cross-divisional analysis. Additionally, I prepare Quarterly Business Review packages and key metrics that are used to report to GD Corporate on BIW’s performance. Other internal reports are created on an ad hoc basis as directed or needed by VPs.

This is professional supervisory position conducting independent, complex audits of organizational units of State of Maine. Senior auditors are responsible for planning, designing and administering complex audit assignments requiring extensive knowledge in specialized audit disciplines. Work includes analyzing Electronic Data Processing systems, identifying critical areas for audit services and developing statewide audit risk assessments; conducting controversial high risk audits for the Legislature, providing technical assistance to senior staff in other agencies with interpretation of laws, regulations and changes in accounting principles or auditing standards; supervising staff auditors and evaluating their individual professional development and training needs; reviewing and assessing the work prepared by other professional accounting staff to ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with accounting principles established by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Work is performed in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America and those contained in Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.
