A the first Head of Data Scientist in the RAF, I analyse raw data and turns it into meaningful information that can be used to improve business and operational processes. My primary duties include analysing large data sets, creating algorithms that manage and organise information and writing applications that translate data and identify patterns. My role will also look to establish a team of data scientists and I play an active role in shaping the data and enterprise architecture of the RAF.

Studied an MSc in Data Analytics fulltime on an RAF scholarship. The focus of the studies was to build a process to predict runway temperatures for RAF Brize Norton.

Responsible for preparing personnel for deploment to high and low threat conflict zones. This includes designing and implimenting training projects informed by intelligence requirements, that adhere to the the Defence Systems Approach to Training policy

What's a CAS Fellowship? The CAS' Fellowships are RAF-sponsored full and part-time post-graduate fellowships, aimed at generating focussed research papers on an air power-related topic and developing the intellectual capital of the RAF. Tom's project focused on collecting and modelling Twitter data to understand perceptions towards COVID-19 vaccines associated with causing blood clots. He used machine learning to visualse the relationships between actors and issues to support intervention strategies rooted in computational data analysis. This included identifying and countering bots and mis/dis - information narratives. This programme provided me with a rigorous introduction to the sociological study of digital society and digital culture. It introduced me to the core theoretical and methodological issues that arise when sociologists investigate the increasing prevalence of digital technology, digital infrastructure, and data production, capture, and analysis in everyday life. It also allowed me to study the social conditions (economic, political, and cultural) that give rise to such technologies and their circuits of power. Students in this programme may take up the following specialised topics, including (but not limited to) the sociological analysis of digital technology and new forms of data on the fields of contemporary culture, work and labour, leisure, health, education, government and law, and finance.

Qualified speaker of Modern Standard Arabic, through intensive study at the Defence Centre for Language and Culture, including 6 weeks in Amman, Jordan. Professional level of proficiency across all 4 areas of language assessment, with final assessments conducted and accredited by King's College London.The role included providing cultural advice and identifying host nation requirements for operations, cooperation projects or tranining, enabled through language proficiency, on behalf of the MoD and wider UK Government.

Fg Off Edbrooke studied Modern Standard Arabic. and achieved a B2 proficiency "professional" level of fluency by the end of this intensive 9 month course.

Flying Officer Edbrooke served as a Flight Commander on 27 Squadron RAF Regiment. He was responsible for commanding 30+ troops on operations around the world, organising their daily specialist training and providing both tactical and strategic specialist CBRN support. This was either as a Stand by Rifle Flight, protecting personnel and air frames in conflict zones, or operating in the CBRN environment. 27 Squadron are aligned with 20 Wing to assists and deal with CBRN threats around the world and domestically.

Raf Honnington

Flying Officer Edbrooke attended the Junior Regiment Officers' Course (JROC) at RAF Honington. The course takes a newly graduated RAF Officer and graduates him as a fully qualified RAF Regiment Flight Commander ready to lead his Flight on operations. The course focuses on soldiering skills such as fieldcraft, navigation, weapons and fitness before progressing on to leading troops in battle in a number of different environments and scenarios including Urban operations and Counter insurgency. It tests the Junior Officer’s leadership, endurance and capacity to the limit.
