Tom Brown is an attorney and owns the Brown Legal Group, PC, an Albuquerque, New Mexico law firm. Tom holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, that entity’s highest substantive and ethics rating. Tom began the practice of law in 1986 and has throughout his 27+ year career focused on legal matters related to trust and estates, wills, estate planning, probate and trust administration, real estate and small business. In addition, from 2005 through 2013, Tom was the lead attorney at his firm at that time (Virtue Najjar & Brown, PC) in its role as Special Program Counsel for the New Markets Tax Credit program at the New Mexico Finance Authority, one of the State of NM’s largest governmental instrumentalities. Prior to forming the Brown Legal Group, PC, Tom was an officer, director and shareholder at the Albuquerque/Santa Fe, NM law firm of Virtue Najjar & Brown, PC from 1999 through September of 2013. Tom joined that firm after practicing with the Wiggins Law Firm in Albuquerque from 1993 through 1999, and Tom began his legal career in 1986 at Sutin Thayer & Browne, PC where he practiced in both the Santa Fe and Albuquerque offices and where he was a shareholder from 1991 to 1993. While at Sutin Thayer & Browne, PC, Tom was one of two attorneys at that firm representing the Galles Racing Team (later the Galles-Kraco Racing Team), a top-tier Indycar racing team which won the Indycar season championship in 1991 and the Indianapolis 500 in 1992 and employed championship drivers including Al Unser Jr., Danny Sullivan and Bobby Rahal. Tom is a native of Artesia, NM, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting (Summa Cum Laude) from Baylor University in 1983 and his Juris Doctorate (With Honors) from the Law School at the University of Texas at Austin in 1986. Tom is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of New Mexico (former Chair of the Taxation Section), the New Mexico Estate Planning Council and The Group, Inc.
