Serve as the main point of contact within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for domestic terrorism matters. Coordinate domestic terrorism-related legal and policy issues with Congress, the NSC, the State Department, DHS, the Treasury Department, the Energy Department, NCTC, the FBI, and other federal departments and agencies. Engage with NGOs, academic institutions, and other civil organizations on domestic terrorism issues.

Instruct a 13 week, 26 hour course on law and policyissues associated with domestic terrorism.

Currently serve as the Commander of a multi-functional Legal Operations Detachment in the U.S. Army Reserves responsible for providing legal services to Active Component and Reserve Component partners in the areas of intelligence / cyber law, domestic operations, international law, administrative law, and family law. Previous assignments in the Active and Reserve Component included Deputy Legal Counsel in the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (U.S. Army Reserves), Military Judge (U.S. Army Reserves), Government Appellate Attorney (U.S. Army Reserves), Military Prosecutor for the Office of Military Commissions (Active Component), Administrative Law Attorney (Active Component), Operational Law Attorney (Active Component), and Military Prosecutor (Active Component).

Served as counsel to the FBI’s Domestic Terrorism Operations Section (DTOS). Provided real-time operational legal guidance on all aspects of the FBI’s national domestic terrorism program.

Prepared draft opinions, bench memoranda, and draft orders. Researched and analyzed legal issues concerning federal habeas petitions, immigration law, §1983 actions, state voting procedures and appellate jurisdiction.

Served as a Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer in the 18th Field Artillery (Airborne) Brigade.
