About Thomas E Craven Jr

Proven success handling multiple projects simultaneously. In early 2017, I was supervising an Entry Control Point (ECP) at a military base in the Middle East. It’s a sprawling area covering hundreds of meters in any direction. Our job was to search for IED’s and contraband being smuggled onto the base. During one of the vehicle searches, a military K-9 alerted us to a possible explosive within one of the vehicles. At that point, I informed base command and led the evacuation of the area and detained the suspects. My job was to assist as the on-scene commander and to brief military police, my superiors, and EOD on everything that was happening. The device was successfully located and disarmed. More recently, I joined an organization that had almost no administrative structure. Performance reviews were virtually non-existent, employee files were incomplete, and the organization was at the end of a losing battle with attrition, overtime, and an overextended economy. The organization was bleeding out money. Naturally, I was excited to jump in and make winning changes. It was more than apparent that a rebranding was needed. I immediately formed a task force to design, implement, and benefit from a culture change project that significantly improved employee morale by rewarding good work with tangible rewards, reduced attrition by more than 50 percent, and adopted a more adaptive way to recruit well-qualified individuals. Also, corporate visibility was tripled with inspections conducted by operations managers that lead to better training for on-site staff and stronger client relationships. One year later, the organization recovered more than $300,000 in lost profits, and morale was boosted by 27 percent. The rebranding of the organizational image continues today as we mentor our junior leaders with comprehensive training programs and one on one coaching. I am proud of my team, and my accomplishments, and I hope to continue this success at a new organization.
