Tom is a learning architect who has been dedicated to the design, development and delivery of technology-based learning products. His passion is to enable people to increase their personal and professional potential through efficient and effective learning environments.Tom has a Masters in Instructional Design and Technology and a multi-disciplinary Ph.D. in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology from the University of Washington. He did his dissertation research at Boeing Commercial Airplane where he designed the simulation training program for the Boeing 777 Airplane. Dr. Downey also achieved an MBA in Accounting, Information Services and Security which he chose to do completely online so he could have the total perspective of the online experience both from the design / development role and the student / consumer role. He has extensive experience in the following markets; aerospace, engineering, health, medicine, publishing and higher education as a designer, technologist, manager and executive.
