Thomas Fields serves as President & CEO of Pars Duo Consulting LLC, a boutique consulting firm specializing in the design, operations, management, and capital programs for convention centers and other large multiuse venues and facilities.Thomas retired in April 2021 after a very successful 36 year career with the City of Los Angeles, Convention & Tourism Department (formerly the Los Angeles Convention Center Department). He began his career in 1985 as an Electrician Apprentice and promoted up through the ranks to Electrician, Senior Electrician, and Electrician Supervisor. In 1997 Thomas promoted to Building Superintendent where he oversaw and managed all show operations as well as building maintenance and construction for the Los Angeles Convention Center. In January 2013 he joined the executive team and became the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in charge of all operations at the Convention Center. In late 2013 and early 2014 the City of Los Angeles contracted AEG (now ASM Global) to operate the Convention Center. As COO Thomas oversaw and managed the transition to the new operator and then subsequently was responsible for direction and oversite of LACC operations as well as managing the Convention Center’s capital program, sustainability program, and expansion program until retiring in April 2021. Thomas was also very involved in working with the City of Los Angeles’ official tourism marketing organization, the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, that markets and promotes Los Angeles as the premier destination for leisure travel, meetings and conventions.
