Mind Lab Mentor/Member
From traumatic brain injury to stroke rehabilitation, the MUSC Institute of Neuroscience Discovery (MIND) provides neurological patients and their families with access to specialized providers, care coordination after leaving the doctor's office or hospital, and personalized treatment plans. MIND also leverages the facilities and world-class talent at MUSC to bring neuroscience education and research to our communities so that we can grow our minds stronger… together. Aside from my current research and Master's program, I currently serve as a lab member and help coordinate and promote MIND's mission, events, networks, etc. In summer of 2024, MIND hosted multiple college and high school students from across the country. I served as a mentor for each student, helping guide them through various activities including: learning neuroanatomy and pathology, shadowing in the OR and conducting their individual research projects and presentations. In August 2024, MIND hosted the first annual Glioblastoma Luncheon.
Supplemental Instructor
After a year tutoring in Probability & Statistics, I transitioned to General Chemistry II. I had the responsibility of attending classes, creating study sessions and tutoring events, as well as, implementing and designing interactive and collaborative games and assignments to help reinforce concepts and topics to my students.
Vice President Of Recruitment
After serving on the Recruitment Committee during our first year as an active chapter, I was elected in November 2019 as Vice President of Recruitment and Retention. As VPR, I am in charge of hosting/facilitating recruitment events, conducting interviews, educating new members, and keeping member retention high. In addition, I play an important role in campus outreach and chapter growth by speaking to classes and delegating responsibilities to my chairs and committee. I was able to represent my SC Beta chapter again this past February at the inaugural Leadership Institute in Atlanta and develop connections with other VPRs in the Southeast. This fraternity has become a second family for me and has allowed me to continue strengthening my passion for medicine and people. PhiDE has become one of my best experiences during my time at Clemson.
Founding Member
I joined Phi Delta Epsilon in April 2018 as a Founding Member of the SC Beta Chapter at Clemson University. Our goal in founding Clemson's only pre-medical fraternity was to bring together like-minded individuals who have the same goal of attending medical school. As a Founding Member, I was able to serve on the Recruitment Committee for our first year on campus where I spoke to classes and helped plan and facilitate our Recruitment in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019. In February of 2019, I was chosen to represent our chapter at the Regional Leadership Institute in Atlanta where I got the chance to network with hundreds of other PhiDE members from the Southeast.
Undergraduate Researcher
I was able to shadow in the Emergency department multiple times a month as well as, perform and assist in research with M3 students from USC SOM-Greenville through the RAPPERS course at Clemson. My research project looked at trends and correlations between personality characteristics and medical specialty/residency choice in M4 students at USC SOM-Greenville. We presented a poster of our findings at USC Discovery Day in April of 2019.
Team Member
I began working for Chick-fil-A when I was fifteen. I started working in the front of the restaurant, running cash registers and helping with customer service. As I got older, I took on more responsibilities and became cross-trained. Working in the back of the restaurant with food preparation and equipment maintenance strengthened my team work skills as well as, my adaptability to respond effectively to different situations in the kitchen. Chick-fil-A taught me the value of hard work, and it allowed me to mature and develop a strong work ethic with a passion for customer service.
