Led a department of 630 personnel in training, qualifying, certifying, and operating all systems related to launching, recovering, and refueling aircraft aboard the newest and most technological nuclear aircraft carrier in the world.• Built the Air Department from 140 personnel to 630 personnel in a two-year timeframe and successfully managed a major program that ensured all positions were filled with trained and qualified personnel for Flight Deck Certification• Collaborated with multiple entities (NAVAIR, General Atomics, Huntington Ingalls Industries) through phase gate management of installation, test, evaluation, and operation of three major new weapons systems, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, manufacturers, and customers• Managed operations of the first all-new catapult (Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System – EMALS) and arresting gear (Advanced Arresting Gear – AAG) systems in 50 years with development costs of $2.8B and life-cycle costs of $17.1B• Controlled all flight operations within 10 miles of the ship, to include the flight deck and 250 personnel with a weekly operating cost of over $1.2M per week; conducted more than 180 one-on-one performance reviews• Managed 90 personnel in operating an all-new JP-5 fuel system valued at over $100M, on-loading over 1.6M gallons of aircraft fuel, issuing 800K gallons of fuel, and receiving first-ever Fuel Certification for a Ford-class carrier, with zero accidents or mishaps• Ensured all 630 personnel had proper clothes, tools, and equipment to operate in all climates.
