With over 20 years of experience in TV news production, I am a seasoned and passionate journalist who strives to deliver accurate, timely, and impactful stories to global audiences. As the Vice President of Newsgathering for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, and the London Bureau Chief at CNN, I oversee the editorial and operational aspects of CNN International's coverage in these regions, managing 15 bureaus and a diverse team of reporters, producers, and crews. My mission is to uphold CNN's reputation as the world's leading news network, and to provide comprehensive and nuanced reporting on the most critical and complex issues of our time, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the Syrian civil war, from Brexit to the Russian/Trump investigations. I am also an expert in international politics, with a master's degree in the field from SOAS University of London, and a keen interest in the political, economic, and social dynamics of Africa and Asia.In my most recent role as the Vice President of Newsgathering for EMEA and London Bureau Chief, which I held from February 2015 to December 2022, I was responsible for all TV and digital editorial content from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, as well as the budget, security, and editorial oversight of 15 CNN International bureaus in the EMEA region. I led the coverage of major stories such as the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Syrian civil war, Brexit, French and UK terror attacks, Yemen, and the Russian/Trump investigations, ensuring that CNN International delivered high-quality, in-depth, and balanced reporting on these topics. I also supervised and mentored a talented and diverse team of journalists, including three senior international correspondents, and fostered a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. I leveraged my skills in video production, investigative reporting, field producing, and digital news gathering to produce compelling and engaging stories for both TV and digital platforms. I also negotiated and produced third-party material from freelance filmmakers, stringers, and journalists, expanding CNN International's network of sources and perspectives.
