I joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16yrs 8 months, and entered basic training at HMS Raleigh in 1998.Having worked and gained experience within the Logistics Branch of the Royal Navy for nearly eight years, I gained experience in team work and working under pressure. After working hard and gaining experience within Logistics I was then selected for promotion. As a Leading Stores Accountant I attended the Royal Navy's Leadership School, and returned to HMS Raleigh to successfully pass my LSA’s Course. I obtained NVQ’s in Warehouse Distribution and Operations after completing both initial Stores Accountant course and my Leading Stores Accountants Course. I also gained experience in the processes of global supply chain management. When on deployment in other parts of the world, or at our base port Portsmouth we were called upon to order spare parts, whether it was for the munitions or engineering departments, and co ordinate spare parts for departmental maintenance programs.Whilst working as Office Manager onboard HMS Nottingham I was in charge of a Multi Million pound account of stores, this was a multi line item account. As a department we maintained stock levels for each onboard department to keep the ship at its peak operational readiness.Scenario Based Experience:Whilst on a Far East Deployment with HMS Nottingham, we had to make a stop in Singapore as our ships main engine failed resulting in the ship being operationally defective.As part of Logistics Department we were directly responsible for the ordering and coordination of the inbound shipment of the new engine, and working with UK authorities and the ships Mechanics to coordinate the new installation.Ships served on -HMS YorkHMS Leeds Castle(Falkland Islands 6 month fisheries protection deployment)HMS Nottingham(Far East deployment for 8 months)BRNC Dartmouth(Security Response) HMNB Portsmouth(Supply Chain duties coordinating stores for ships under maintenance periods)
