I am currently a Postdoctoral researcher in the department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta with a goal of understanding how people gain knowledge and search for information. Prior to this, I was a PhD student at the University of Victoria studying the impact of stress on cognition and decision making. I have 8+ years of experience of conducting research in a rigorous setting, and have developed skills touching on all parts of the research process. These skills include grant and manuscript writing, leading ethics applications, and mentoring students. I have strong quantitative skills including data processing, data visualization, analysis and the application of advanced learning models to model human behavior. I have worked with physiological, behavioral, and time-series data for 8+ years. In addition I have 7+ years of experience using R, 5+ years experience of using MATLAB, and 2 years of using Python for working with data.In addition, I have successfully completed four projects for industrial partners during my PhD work, meaning I have experience navigating the differences between academic and industrial research. I have also provided my expertise as a research contractor for two companies (one on-going).
