𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗡 𝗕𝗬 𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘, 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘I have been providing data analytics for over 50 years. Early on working with data was not called data analytics but instead data mining. The purpose of data analytics is to provide objective information on what is being implemented to see if it is in fact working – is a return on investment being realized.The most critical aspect of data analytics is the database. If the database is not built correctly to yield accurate and worthwhile information, then the analysis is worthless. During my tenure at the University of Michigan, I assisted many faculty and graduate students on preparing databases and advising on the appropriate statistical/data analysis.My first industrial data consulting work after leaving my tenured faculty position was with Stouffer Frozen Foods (Nestle USA). After analyzing their workers compensation data, it was determined that 13 job crafts accounted for over 80% of their musculo-skeletal injuries and costs. Intervention programs were then implemented resulting in a significant reduction in MSK’s and return on investment.Similar work was done for the Cleveland Clinic resulting in over $60 million in savings in both workers’ comp and employee health costs.I have written countless scientific papers, published by leading scientific journals and scholarly publications and have spoken at many scientific conferences and professional organizations.
