As a passionate, meticulous scholar of the social work profession, I aspire to refine environmental justice efforts grounded in newfound reform perpetuating our American healthcare system- a holistic introduction to wellness. As a clinician in training, I am most inspired to address childhood trauma and development while providing an avenue to interventions outside of a standard practice. Youth of today's world are presented with a fast-paced, electronically dominated environment with growing pressure from changes in the spaces around them, inciting observed concerns for childhood adjustment, anxiety, depression, lack of focus, and trauma. Whether it be experiences of abuse in their environments, food insecurity, exposure to drug use, eco-grief from rapid climate change, or other social determinants, our next generations of young leaders are faced with burdens beyond their control. Recent paradigms from the pandemic suggest society attending to mental health and gratitude for privileges like free expression of creativity and safe spaces in nature. Along a new generation of clinicians, I welcome the integration of nature and alternative expressions of creativity in therapy as a restoration effort to observed childhood exposure to trauma. This is a privilege that we are all deserving of. In May of 2023, I completed my undergraduate social work degree at the University of Toledo, an accredited program offering mastery of the NASW Code of Ethics as implemented in over 600 hours of field experience. In this tenure, I've been honored to have worked in the healthcare setting through non-profit and for-profit avenues. I've acquired much value in supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and serving primarily Latinx youth within an integrated healthcare agency. Recent accolades include participation in the KLAR Leadership Academy, hosting Presidency for the Student Social Work Organization, and bountiful experience as a youth case manager through my field placement agency, Vital Health. From July 2024 to June 2025, I am pursuing my MSW at the University of Denver, followed by my state license. In this space, I will continue to strive as a learning clinician, supporting youth of Western Colorado through alternative interventions during individual and day treatment services. I will be furthering my efforts of ecological justice through a work-study and adhering to advocacy against legislation in support of further injury to our planet and to our most underserved communities.
