Integrative research interests in genetic, pharmacological, behavioral, and molecular biological techniques to study the neurobiology of learning and memory and the effects of addiction on them. Current research focuses on identifying the cellular, molecular, and epigenetic eventsthat underlie the effects of nicotine on learning and memory, with an emphasis on how how adolescence may change sensitivity to these effects. Authored over 150 publications with continuous funding from the National Institutes of Health for the last 15 years.Received the Evan G. and Helen G. Pattishall Outstanding Research Achievement Award from the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State; the 2017 Pavlovian Research Award from the Pavlovian Society, an organization dedicated to the scientific study of behavior and promotion of interdisciplinary scientific communication; the 2012 Temple University Eberman Faculty Research Award; the 2010 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching, Temple University.
