Served in the United State Marine Corp for four years. Were he studied Field Communication 3 years and Military Police for one year. In 1992 he hired on with Amtrak as a Signal Maintainer. . Thomas performed his signal maintainer role for Amtrak for five year. Thomas started his railroad career in Los Angeles Station interlocking, two years later he started performing rail crossings and wayside apparatus maintenance. Thomas was offered an railroad construction inspector position for a contractor representing Caltrain in 1997. After contract was completed Thomas move into the railroad construction field, working on several projects through out the state. During his construction career, he was able to become familiar with several types of manufacture’s wayside equipments. Thomas had several positions during his eighteen teen years in the construction field, foreman, Signal Manager to Project Manager.As a Signal Manager, Thomas was over seeing cut-over preparations and performed cut-over under the directions of the Signal Engineer, and he also performed programming of wayside apparatus. Thomas worked with several commuters and transits rail agencies, SEPTA, VTA, SDNR, PCJPB and SCRRA, also some heavy rail agencies. Thomas was hired with the Public Utilities Commissioner as a Signal Inspector in December of 2009, to perform inspections for the fourteen transit agencies in California.Completed working as Project manager for KCS Leardo CTC Project in Texas. One hundred and thrity miles of Broken Rail Detection (BRD) up graded to CTC in 11 months.
