Assisted in development of a species viability database for the USDA Forest Service Region 8 related to special concern plants to be used for regional Forest Plans and conducted interviews and compiled report on the ecology and restoration of shortleaf pine ecosystems in the southeastern US for the USDA Forest Service Region 8.

Collected baseline conservation data on three properties in north Georgia, preparing baseline documentation report including GIS maps of vegetation, delineating areas of significant conservation value and detailing rare species and habitats within easement properties.

North Georgia Area

Conducted protected species surveys on timber sale units in the Chestatee, Cohutta, Toccoa, Tallulah and Armuchee Districts of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

New Ellington, South Carolina

Conducted protected plant survey with a team of botanists on seven thousand acres of National Forest Land including sandhills, upland hardwood bluff forests and Carolina bays. Over seventy new locations were documented for special concern species.

Collected accuracy assessment data regarding an ecological systems map produced by the University of Georgia for the buffer areas of six military installations in Georgia and producing a report evaluating the usefulness of this map. Installations that were evaluated included Fort Benning, Robbins Air Force Base, Fort Gordon, Fort Stewart, Townsend Bombing.

Fort Benning, Georgia

Assisted with plant community inventory, mapping and reporting of Unique Ecological Areas at Fort Benning Military Installation, Columbus, GA. Established permanent monitoring plots for longleaf pine plant associations.

Atlanta, Georgia

Worked with a team of biologists to identify and protect significant natural areas in the Chattahoochee River watershed from Helen to Columbus. This effort led to the discovery and documentation of a large number of special concern plant species and significant plant associations for conservation efforts.

Durham, North Carolina

Assisted with the planning and the conducting of ecological inventories of forest communities for the Chattahoochee, Oconee and Talladega National Forests in Georgia and Alabama for refinement of the National Vegetation Classification System.

Social Circle, GA

Conducted a survey in northwest Georgia of calcareous flatwoods habitats for the federally endangered Clematis socialis and Marshallia mohrii. Over twenty-six species of special concern were located (with Richard T. Ware).

Savannah, Georgia Area

Worked with a zoologist to conduct an inventory and established a monitoring system protocol for plant and animal species at Fort Pulaski National Monument. Produced a detailed map of existing plant associations using the US National Vegetation Classification. This effort added more than 100 new species to the sites plant database.

Conducted a status review survey for populations of the federally endangered large flowered skullcap Scutellaria montana. Located, mapped and documented twenty new stations for this plant and discovered additional special concern plant locations.

Atlanta, Georgia

Conducted a protected plant survey of National Guard Training Areas throughout the state of Georgia. Located and mapped several special concerned species for protection efforts and provided data to the Georgia Natural Heritage Program.

Marietta, Georgia

Conducted a protected plant survey of Dobbins Air Force Base, Marietta, Georgia. Located and documented special concern plants throughout the installation.

Clay County, Western North Carolina

Conducted community and population studies of the Federally listed green pitcherplant (Sarracenia oreophila), assisted with fire management and prepared land use history report for the Eller Preserve, Clay County, North Carolina.

Atlanta, Georgia

Conducted protected plant and animal surveys along proposed power line right-of-ways; wetland delineation and vegetation survey of public fishing lake in Grady County, Georgia; assisted with data collection for Environmental Impact Statement for proposed pumped storage hydrologic facility in North Georgia.
