Thomas is a registered Architect with several years of work and teaching experience, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He holds a degree in Architecture, graduating from the University of Innsbruck, studio Patrik Schumacher Experimental Architecture. He is currently working as a Senior Architect at UNStudio Amsterdam.In 2007, together with his research partner, Ursula Frick, he co-founded the collective [uto]. Along with the generation and analysis of geometries and their application in performance-orientated ecological building systems, their research focuses on the development of formal strategies, generative structures, and data-driven design approaches. They have developed and published several software plugins that enhance workflow in a generative design environment and integrate routines for the exchange of data/geometry in parametric software.From 2011 to 2013, he was employed as a teaching and research associate at the technical University of Innsbruck, Institute of Urban Design directed by Peter Trummer and for Experimental Architecture, Studio Patrik Schumacher. Within this position and with [uto], he led design studios, held workshops and lectures among others at the AA | Architectural Association, PennDesign | University of Pennsylvania, SCI-arc | Southern California Institute of Architecture, TKU | Tamkang University Taipei.
