I am a retired air traffic controller with experience in En Route and Tower specialities. I worked for almost ten years as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in air traffic system modernization, working on the design, development, installation, testing, evaluation, and training of National Airspace System (NAS) modernizations.• Worked among a team of SMEs to identify and document the desired behavior and appearance of systems under development for NAS modernization:o En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) – Terminalo Data Communications (DATA COMM) - Tower Data Link Services (TDLS) version 12• Worked with a team of SMEs to coordinate travel, training, installation, and observation of NAS modernization projects• Served as a local system administrator for technology that delivers clearance information electronically to aircrafto Tower Data Link Services (TDLS)• Provided expertise and advice locally and nationally to other system administrators in the configuration and management of their technology• Worked with air traffic control procedures groups to identify ways of reducing controller and pilot workload and confusion through better automation and use of technology• Worked as the lead SME in the development of controller training for a new technology being deployed in the NAS• Worked as the point of contact for issues related to procedures and automation between Oakland Tower and the overlying approach control
