As a principal engineer, I'm responsible for THD's on-premise datacenter Kubernetes solution as well as their legacy container platforms (Tanzu Application Service and the retirement of a home-grown legacy system). In this role, I've focused on creating a smooth development experience specifically targeting feature teams without SRE teams or operational experience, enabling them to deploy and maintain complex applications themselves with a minim of friction. To achieve this outcome, I've collaboarated with our on-premise opeartions teams as well as our platform teams to design, build and deploy our own managed, on-premise Kubernetes offering and maintain our existing investment in Tanzu Application Service.

Administering and automating the management of Container Orchestration systems including Kubernetes and Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Also building out self-service tools to request on-prem Kubernetes resources using Rancher, Terraform and VMWare.

Administer and develop for Splunk. This has included integrating Splunk with Kubernetes, developing of custom Python plugins for legacy app integrations and the day-to-day administration of a large Splunk environment. My previous role at CenturyLink was building out unified environmental monitoring for Java applications running on diverse middleware. In this capacity I unified the management of a widely deployed legacy monitoring tool using Python and built out dashboards to help application owners manage load and performance data.

-Planned and implemented a company-wide move to a new customer relationship management (CRM) software package.-Developed an API for the new CRM's database and a custom importer to move the organization's data from a legacy Clarion database.-Developed several add-ons for aforementioned CRM, including, but not limited to: Active Directory integration, streaming video, and integration with current internal applications.-Migrated several databases to a central PostgreSQL install, configured replication, load balancing, automated backups, and acted as its administrator.-Maintained two large and undocumented legacy PHP applications created by a previous employee.-Planned, developed, and implemented a scalable transcoding solution to automate the conversion and processing of disparate video formats into a standard format for streaming.-Designed, planned, and oversaw construction of a new server room, as well as planned and completed the move into the new facility.-Worked closely with executives and management to reorient the organization to be more data-driven by creating complex SQL reports, automating data gathering, and standardizing how data is accessed internally.-Assisted with day-to-day Active Directory and Exchange management. Standardized several processes by writing Powershell scripts.-Provisioned and administered virtualized servers with XenServer-Carried out the hiring for helpdesk staff and junior systems administrator positions.
