The Student Scout And Guide Organisation (SSAGO) is a collection of over 35 clubs across UK universities, combining to make a total membership base of over 1,000 people. At the spring AGM of 2022, I was elected as National Chair for the year. In this position I have responsibility of large financial assets, safeguarding of young persons, and the final say of many matters of complex insurance. As our members comprise of both The Scout Association and Girlguiding UK members, these can indeed be very complex situations regarding disclosure checking of those in contact with young persons, and insurance to both health and public liability of our members at events. Additionally, I am also the main point of contact for all of the many Students’ Unions our clubs are at around the country, and I (along with my national committee) have been very good in maintaining communications with the various institutions, despite some very difficult situations arising.
