Areas of applicationsRockfall protectionNets made of high-tensile steel wire are used as barriers to protect against rockfalls. The rockfall protection barriers can stand up to impacts up to 8,000 kJ and can stop test blocks weighing 20 tons falling at speeds of up to 100 km/h.Slope stabilizationTo stabilize slopes, rock nails and spike plates are used to anchor the mesh made of high-tensile steel wire in the ground. This actively secures weathered or sliding subsurfaces. As the mesh is so fine, the landscape remains undisturbed; new vegetation growth and sustainable stabilization is encouraged.Debris flow and landslide protectionLandslides and mudflows can form on steep, unstable slopes. These can occur spontaneously and can flow at great speeds. Barriers made of high-tensile steel wire provide both infrastructure and people with the highest degree of protection against this natural hazard.Avalanche protectionGeobrugg is working closely with the Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) to develop systems protecting against avalanches and snow loads. The flexible avalanche prevention structures made of steel wire nets can hold back large quantities of snow and reduce the risk of avalanches considerably.Ground supportThe high-tensile meshes are used globally in mining, road, and railway tunnels to secure the surfaces and prevent fractures.
