I am a PhD Candidate, educator, writer, and editor based in Washington, D.C. I currently serve as the Interim Director of Intelligence Studies at The Catholic University of America, where I also teach in political theory, American government, intelligence studies, as well as ancient and modern philosophy.My dissertation explores the 1953 Hannah Arendt-Eric Voegelin debate over totalitarianism and the human person. I am co-editor of "Personalism for the Twenty-First Century: Essays in Honor of David Walsh" (Lexington Books, forthcoming). My writing has appeared in Perspectives on Political Science, The Review of Metaphysics, and The Political Science Reviewer as well as Public Discourse, Law & Liberty, and Voegelin View.More generally, my research focuses on the ontology of the human person and the philosophical roots of communication between persons, especially in the context of twentieth century Continental thought. I also study this complex of problems in the context of American political thought. My other interests include twentieth-century personalism, Catholic political thought, ancient political thought, and just war theory.Previously I served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a V-22 Pilot and Forward Air Controller with deployments to the Western Pacific, Iraq (Al-Anbar Province), Kuwait, and East Africa.
