Thomas Horn, Ph.D. - Biotechnology ConsultantDr. Horn has over 35 years of scientific experience in biotechnology research. He was a main contributor in the development of several key technologies in DNA probe diagnostics, RNase L activators, DNA sequencing, and peptoid/peptide conjugation in prion detection and was a key player in developing the Chiron bDNA signal amplification system used to monitor HCV and HIV viral load in response to drug therapy. Dr. Horn runs the consulting firm Nuatech, LLC. Previously, he held scientific research positions at Genentech, Chiron Corporation (now Novartis), Alios Biopharma, and contract positions at Pacific Biosciences, Geron Corporation and Kalinex. Dr. Horn is first author on 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 35 issued US patents. He received his MA in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
