About Thomas Hughes
In January 2017, following my relocation to Melbourne from South Africa, I took a senior project management role with Montlaur Project Services (MPS). In September 2019, MPS was acquired by CBRE and in turn CBRE Project Management was acquired by Turner & Townsend in 2023. I am currently a Director at Turner & Townsend leading the Corperate Occupier division for Project Management in Victoria. Between 2008 and 2016, I worked predominantly in the South African hotel sector as an independent construction project management consultant. I fulfilled the construction project management roles (client side) of both Superintendent and Development Manager for multiple hotel construction and refurbishment projects. In the early 2000’s, I gained valuable construction project management experience in the retail, banking, office and petroleum sectors when I worked as a project manager for Turner & Townsend Johannesburg and AECOM London. In the late 1990’s, before specialising in construction project management, I spent over three years as a development manager for Accor Hotels in South Africa.
