Provide administrative support for undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and related activities, from student induction and registration, academic progress through to graduation, working with the Student Administration Manager or Graduate Administration Manager and the rest of the student support team, including academic staff holding key roles.

I took on a variety of part time retail jobs to support my studies. These include supermarket roles at Waitrose and Lidl, as well as a longer term of employment at FatFace in Bath.

During my time at ELAC, I was responsible for the welfare of over 500 students, group leaders and staff. I was responsible and influential in maintaining good relations with Ardingly College, through liaising with their key staff, with Group leaders by personal contact and through the Group Co-ordinator where applicable, good relations with students by personal contact, through key Staff and by conducting regular course meetings and furthermore, I maintained excellent relations with teachers and activity staff, working both directly with them and through the Academic Manager and Activity Manager. Part of my role was to lead, motivate and manage the other key staff and ensure that the programme is effectively implemented. I also liaised with the Elac Principals, Director & Operations Manager over difficult or sensitive issues, or where support was required.

Responsible to the Operations Manager for the management and development of the Quality System with particular emphasis on document control and internal quality Audits. Part of my job was to perform root cause analysis and determine short- and long-term corrective actions for any non-compliances, both with customer owned products and also any non-compliances from internal audits. I worked closely with external packaging suppliers to maintain product integrity whilst meeting individual customer’s specific requirements. As quality manager I was responsible for producing and reporting on KPI’s to the senior management and customers, ensuring corrective actions are in place and followed up. I also helped maintain the company’s status as a recognised ISO 9001-2008 company during multiple audits from the British Standards Institute (BSI).

Working my way from an apprentice engineer , I ended up in a role where I was responsible for the day to day running of the department and for ensuring that the outputs and the processes involved meet the requirements of the Quality Policy and the Quality System. I would review the training needs of workshop personnel and ensure that the workshop was adequately resourced in terms of materials, tools and test equipment.I also spent a year working in our French workshop, helping with the start-up of the Scanner/Barcode Department within their new workshop. Duties were split between a small team across the business from receiving goods to engineering them right through to packaging and finally dispatch.
