My research focus is on the characterization of material structures and their mechanical behavior. I have studied nickel based super alloy 718, titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V, and high strength aluminum alloy AA7075. During my research I have extensively used mechanical testing equipment including: electromechanical and servohydraulic test frames, hardness testers, and metallographic specimen preparation equipment. I have also used scanning electron and optical microscopes, and X-ray fluorescence equipment.

Taught a laboratory section on the mechanical behavior of materials. Supervised students during mechanical testing, machining, microscopy, and data analysis.

Conducted friction and wear studies on surfaces textured silver nanorods using nano-indentation and nano-scratching techniques.

Mentored 14 freshmen individually on a weekly basis. Advised the freshman engineers on how to adapt to college life, and answered any questions they had.

Performed research under Dr. Joseph Turner in the Engineering Mechanics department. Investigated the mechanical properties of switch grass used in the production of ethanol. Used a Hysitron nano-indenter to conduct nano-indentation tests on different switch grass samples.

Drafted and revised technical drawings in Solid edge for parts used within the interior of three aircraft used for high altitude observations.
