Some find this cliche - I find it extremely important: I am a relentless problem solver. Completely persistent and bent on finding good answers to problems using all available resources.I have strength in Perl and Linux shell script development and programming. I also have very strong C programming skills, although my professional experience using C is older. However, I do recreational programming where I continue to use C and Perl and GUI toolkits. As a Perl developer, I have extensive experience with the DBI/DBD modules used to connect to a variety of database engines such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and others. I know how to write queries and I have some experience with tuning/optimizing them. I also have extensive experience with low level systems programming including integrating with 3rd party software and socket connection programming. In addition, I have experience developing daemons in the Linux environment.I have self taught experience with C# .NET (at Epic) and Javascript in the ExtJS framework (at iNOC). I have programmed in a variety of other languages including C++, Java, Fortran, COBOL, and many others. Early on I was an instructor at the University of Wisconsin and my area of interest as a graduate student in the Computer Sciences Department there was programming languages so I have no problem learning new programming languages and supporting frameworks.I have minimal experience in web development. I am very interested in learning both web client/server application development and mobile based application development.
