Thomas Annis is a trial attorney whose practice primarily focuses on professional liability matters involving lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, real estate brokers, and other professional clients.

During law school, Thomas was a student attorney in the SMU Civil Clinic, where he provided representation to low-income clients in Dallas area federal and state courts. His cases involved consumer litigation and other general litigation. Thomas continued on as "chief counsel" for a second semester in the clinic to provide continuity on a complex active case and to assist the new clinic students with routine matters, including leading weekly "firm" meetings.The issues raised in one of his cases led to Thomas and his Professor Eliot Shavin co-authoring a paper entitled "Who is a Consumer?" that addresses Texas DTPA plaintiff standing issues. The paper was presented in August 2012 at a Texas CLE "Advanced Consumer and Commercial Law Course" in Dallas, Texas.

- Managing Editor of The International Lawyer, a quarterly publication of the ABA Section of International Law; the journal focuses on practical issues facing lawyers engaged in international practice, concerning primarily the topics of trade, licensing, direct investment, finance, taxation, litigation, and dispute resolution- Personally edited more than 50 articles that spanned over 1,230 pages, making every final editing decision-Awarded the Hull-Kellogg Award for Outstanding Service by co-editors, the top honor available for a member of the law review

- Worked closely with the general counsel on a variety of legal tasks- Drafted bylaws for a new tribal lending trade association- Revised compliance procedures for fair lending laws for review of the corporation’s officers- Completed 50-state survey of consumer lending laws- Reviewed and edited vendor contracts
