Mechanical Engineer
Engineering Co-Op; Quality
Working under the quality engineer, I improved the collection of daily quality and yield statistics, which I then placed into a presentation for various staff and management. Working with line operators, design engineers, sales, and other staff, we established improved quality standards for the product. I updated work instructions and other ISO-9000 documents to reflect these improvements. Working with the electrical engineering intern, we replaced a manual driver operation with a more automated system, allowing the sensor (laser micrometer) to send a signal to the automated driver via PLC's and relays to inform it when to start, slow down, and stop at the correct measurement each time.
Design Engineer Co-Op
I have completed 2 co-op rotations (Semester long internships) within the Electrical Sector in Eaton Corporation. My first rotation was in Moon Township near Pittsburgh, PA in the fall of 2013, working with design engineers in the New Product Division. My second rotation took place in Lincoln, IL during the summer of 2014 with the engineering team in a manufacturing plant, where I was part of product improvement and cost-out projects and developed a better understanding of design for manufacturing and sale.
