Founded in 1995, Creative Alliance (CA) is a multi-disciplinary arts nonprofit and anchoring institution in Baltimore’s Highlandtown Arts District. As the organization’s leader for all visual arts programming, I built frameworks, led projects, and managed team members and budgets for activities including the curation and management of over 50 exhibitions, organizing 100 adult-focused workshops and events onsite, and community building with and managing the needs of CA’s 8 resident artists across mediums such as painting, sculpture, experimental music production, and photography. As a key member of the leadership team, I worked closely with the Executive Director and the staff to develop strategic plans, collaborate on fundraising efforts, and create comprehensive programs to bring to our community.

Founded in 1963, Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) is a non-profit visual arts organization dedicated to promoting awareness, appreciation and support of artists through community outreach, education and exhibition opportunities to artists at all levels. In my role as the Exhibitions Manager Fellow, I worked closely with a small team to manage and track logistics, communications, sales, and promotional efforts for 15 exhibitions both on and offsite. This role allowed me to work directly with volunteers, board members, and jurors to ensure the success of each exhibition.During my fellowship I provided support to spearhead a workshop series for local artists featuring panels and networking with professions on topics including how to transform your social media into an effective web presence and communication tool, how to properly document and frame your artwork for professional presentation, and benefits, drawbacks, and tactics for navigating gallery representation.

After deciding to dedicate my first year out of college to service, I began working with DC Public School's (DCPS) Out-of-School Time division as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA).- Responsible for publishing a monthly newsletter, I drafted ideas for content, conducted research and site visits to obtain all media including photographs, interviews, and statistical data. I then distributed the newsletter to a list of 400+ recipients including internal DCPS employees, school staff and administration, and leaders of community based organizations.- After seeing an opportunity for expantion in the division's social media presences I took over the social media platform and through research and social media campaigns the Twitter platform increased activity by 70% and followers by 43%.- Served as head of communications for a citywide workshop hosted by DCPS. The workshop extensively informed representatives from 20+ community organizations and government entities how to collect and excess data aligning with DCPS' strategic plan and initiatives.- As a VISTA your main goal is to create a sustainable system so in-time for your transition out the organization can still complete your job functions and/or the VISTA transitioning in can expand the system you have created without much of a learning curve. Before I transitioned out I created an extensive sustainability initiative that would allow my successor to create another successful event for community organizations, an engaging newsletter, and grow the twitter following and expand Out of School Time's network communication.
