I have worked in Oil and Gas for about 17 years. I started out working as a floor hand on a drilling rig for Greywolf. Then, I worked for multiple workover rig companies starting out as a floor hand and working my way up the ladder to derrick hand and operator for the next 9 years. After working on rigs for so long, I decided I wanted to try something new in the oilfield. I saw that GE Oil & Gas was hiring Field Service Technicians, so I applied for the job and was hired in March of 2014. After working for a couple years, GE sent me to wellhead school in Houston where I achieved several certificates and also completed BOSIET certification. Unfortunately, when COVID hit in 2020, GE/Baker Hughes performed layoffs, and even though I had been with the company for 6 years, I was one of the employees laid off in April of 2020 with the potential of getting rehired sometime in the future which never came. With no luck getting a Field Service Technician job, I had to go back to being an operator on a workover rig. The company I currently work for, TRC Inland Services, uses a jack-up boat to work on wells offshore. Ever since I was let go from Baker Hughes, I have wanted to get back to wellhead work and be a Field Service Technician again.
