About Thomas Jordan

Mr. Jordan created, develops, and licenses the NOVICE Software Suite. See www.empc.com. The world's leading space agencies and space, aerospace and defense companies rely on NOVICE for radiation effects modeling and assurance.Radiation effects and survivability over time are a critical aspect of space systems ranging from SmallSats to the largest satellites and space telescopes, as well as deep space missions to Jupiter and beyond, and human spaceflight. Mr. Jordan licenses NOVICE through Experimental & Mathematical Physics Consultants (EMPC) in support of commercial and government satellite programs and in support of in-house use by space, aerospace and defense clients. The company also consults with licensees to analyze space system designs, including subsystems and components. EMPC's clients include NASA (including the CalTech Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the Goddard, Marshall, Kennedy, and Langley NASA facilities), Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Ball Aerospace, UTC Collins, SpaceX, Blue Origin, Thales Group, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), and U.S. National Laboratories, among others. Mr. Jordan is a mathematical physicist. His expertise focuses on radiation effects and transport modeling in the design space systems ranging from satellites to deep space probes to human space flight. Mr. Jordan created, develops, and through Experimental & Mathematical Physics Consultants (EMPC), which he founded, licenses the NOVICE Software Suite. Mr. Jordan helped pioneer, and is today the leading authority in, 3D modeling of space systems and components. Mr. Jordan created the ADJOINT (reverse) Monte Carlo software implementation for trapped charged particles. Of the only other ADJOINT (reverse) Monte Carlo options, the GEANT4 code was done under Mr. Jordan's guidance; the other relies on decades-old NOVICE coding without authorization. In addition to NOVICE, Mr. Jordan also created the FASTER (forward Monte Carlo for point-detector neutron and gamma-ray analysis on nuclear rocket space systems) and BETA (forward Monte Carlo for bremsstrahlung and electron transport with charge trapping field effect) radiation effects software codes. Mr. Jordan also created the PC versions of software previously limited to mainframe usage, including MCNP4, ITS3, CEPXS/ONELD, MORSE-CGA, TORT/DORT, ONEDANT/TWODANT, SAND, CHARGE, and SHIELDOSE.
