Tom’s early career was spent in operations with Westin and Marriott where he held various positions from Food and Beverage Director to General Manager.His strong operational experience and leadership skills led Tom to multi property supervision at an executive level. Tom has held the positions of Vice President, Aston Hotels and Resorts Hawaii . Regional Vice President, Rockresorts , where his responsibilities included the Master Planning of the Rosario Resort on Orcas Island ,WA. Vice President Vail Resorts where his responsibilities included the supervision of Keystone and Breckenridge resorts, President and CEO of Kapalua Land Co. Kapalua a 23,000 acre resort community with 3 Championship Golf Courses, Villa rental program and the 5 diamond Ritz Carlton Kapalua. Tom was President and CEO of Paraiso del Mar a 2,000 acre project in La Paz, Mexico. Under Tom’s direction Paraiso del Mar at opening was one of the most successful Real Estate projects in North America and its golf course was voted the # 2 best new golf courses internationally. As President and CEO Tom supervised all construction, sales and operations.The majority of Tom’s career has been spent in Hawaii supervising luxury hotels and resorts. This experience includes serving as the Vice President of the Kea Lani Hotel for 9 years. Under Tom’s supervision the Kea Lani Resort and Spa was the recipient of many awards including being named one of the 10 Best Island Resorts 5 years in a row. The Kea Lani (now The Fairmont Kea Lani) has achieved one of the highest REVPAR’s in the industry. Recently, Tom worked for Aqua Hospitality as Senior Vice President, and served as the General Manager of the Modern Honolulu during the transition and bankruptcy of the former Edition Hotel. Tom also served as the Managing Partner of Park Restaurant .Tom worked for Silverwest Hotels providing asset management services for their Hotels in Texas and Hawaii. Tom is currently the CEO of the Cote Family Companies.
