I aim to contribute to the scientific understanding of cancer through research in both basic and translational sciences. Currently, I am a postdoctoral scholar at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University performing neuro-oncology research under the mentorship of Dr. Craig Horbinski. Upon transitioning from my postdoc, I strive to acquire a faculty position at a leading research institution. My broad interests include the molecular and cell biology behind cancer initiation, promotion, and progression, and how this biology can be exploited for therapeutic purposes. In particular, I am interested in looking at epigenetic dependencies in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutant glioma that may unveil novel therapeutic strategies against this unique subtype of brain cancer.

Etx 102B Graduate Teaching AssistantUniversity Of California, Davis Mar 2015 - Sep 2020Davis, CaHead teaching assistant (TA) for ETX 102B: Quantitative Analysis of Environmental Toxicants. Led lab sections with experiments developed to teach students how to analyze various environmental media for toxicants. Concepts ranged from sample preparation to chromatography (LC and GC) to instrumental analysis (mass spectometry, VWD, NPD, etc). -
Phd Candidate-Woolard LabUniversity Of California, Davis Jul 2017 - Jul 2020Davis, CaMy research in the Woolard lab centers around neuro-oncology and pathology of glioma. Current projects include investigating mechanisms of glioma tumor recurrence and assessment of epigenetic drug targets in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutant glioma. -
Etx 103A Teaching AssistantUniversity Of California, Davis Jan 2016 - Mar 2019DavisHead teaching assistant (TA) for ETX 103A: Biological Effects of Toxicants. I helped teach students the basic concepts of toxicology in the context of environmental toxicants. Briefly, we discussed basic toxicokinetics, toxicogenomics, and toxicant mechanisms of action within the framework of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and physiology. My role as TA was to assist the professor and students with various facets of the class. I also presented my own lectures on the topics of xenobiotic metabolism and cardiotoxicity.Quarters TAd: Winter 2016, Winter 2018 Show less -
Graduate Student Researcher- Angelastro LabUc Davis Sep 2015 - Jul 2017Davis, CaDr. Angelastro's lab aims to develop novel dominant-negative peptides with anticancer activity. My project involved developing an ATF5-targeted gene therapy approach for treating glioblastoma with a dominant-negative ATF5 transgene. This was an alternative approach to the systemically-deliverable dominant-negative peptides that have already been developed by the Angelastro lab. The objective of this research was to assess the promise of a 1st generation adenoviral vector to deliver… Show more Dr. Angelastro's lab aims to develop novel dominant-negative peptides with anticancer activity. This was an alternative approach to the systemically-deliverable dominant-negative peptides that have already been developed by the Angelastro lab. The objective of this research was to assess the promise of a 1st generation adenoviral vector to deliver dominant-negative ATF5 prior to development of a much more costly and laborious oncolytic adenovirus construct.
