Our approach involved structuring these ventures into a diverse portfolio, operating independently yet benefiting from T-Mobile's resources like T-Ventures. With a team of 4500 across over 20 business and product areas, our focus spanned e-commerce, cloud/web hosting, and security/IoT. As CEO, I successfully managed a direct P&L nearing $1 billion, growing over 10% per annum, and an indirect P&L of $14 billion. My leadership roles included Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Scout24, sold for $2.6 billion, and being part of the Advisory and Selection Committee of T-Ventures, a significant corporate investment fund. Key ventures created included QiViCon, a smart home startup with 500K users, tolino, a dominant e-reader and ebook cloud business in Europe, leading DT’s Digital Business Unit to achieve $1B revenue. Amadeus IT Group is the No. 1 (global market share) provider of travel distribution systems and online bookings, with $ 5.8 billion revenues in 2017. I joined Amadeus to build a new division from scratch – the e-commerce business. This was both a growth and technological scaling project, as well as a cultural transformation, the move away from mainframes to Internet / e-commerce architectures. We designed and operated the eTravel business – the global No. 1 B2B travel booking engine (Euro 9 Billion transacted sales in 2008), hosting 160 airlines and online agencies.

I joined this European web hosting company in the midst of the Internet 1.0 growth phase in 2000. It included full sales and product responsibility for the business lines Web application hosting, professional services and security products (revenue $ 80 Mio p.a.). Customers included 8 out of Top 10 German Media companies, and product development focused on e-commerce retail portals using software from Intershop, Vignette, BEA Weblogic. Global One was a strategic alliance between US Sprint, France Telecom (now Orange) and Deutsche Telekom, to provide managed voice, transmission and Internet services on a global scale, for Fortune 500 companies, Revenue was $1.1 billion in 1999. I started as sales manager between 1994 and 1996, designing solutions and commercial offers of voice / data integrating outsourcing solutions, for our sales presence in over 65 countries. Top customer projects included Airbus, RJ Reynolds, and the IBM European network. In 1996 I took on companywide responsibility for the planning/engineering of voice, data and IP network solutions as Director, Network Products. We improved network quality KPIs by 20-30%, and were voted “Best Carrier 1999” by customers.
