I was born in Glasgow, Scotland and have lived in the surrounding area all my life. My main interests include economics, finance and golf. I also love to travel, and have a goal of travelling to 100 countries during my life. Currently I am employed at Aegon Asset Management as a Box Operations and Unit Linked Funds Assistant. This job has taught me a lot about myself, so here are five things I’ve learned from my time so far: 1) I made the right decision to pursue this career! This role was my first in the investment industry and I have loved every second of it. Each day presents different challenges to overcome, as well as opportunities to learn and grow. Combining to create an environment I thrive in!2) Over the years I have developed a proficiency in data analysis, which began in university and was greatly expanded upon at this role. My BAU duties see me tasked with compiling, analysing and reporting findings through the appropriate channels on various quantitative and qualitative data sources. 3) Adaptability and an ability to handle high pressure situations are in my nature. As part of the previously mentioned BAU duties I have to meet various deadlines and deal with issues as they develop, mitigating them from preventing me achieving timeframes. From this I have discovered I have an ability to withstand pressure well and remain focussed. 4) I love people and have an interest in learning about and interacting with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. This makes me an effective written and oral communicator, who can easily liaise between various departments to meet stakeholder expectations. 5) It’s important that I am constantly learning and growing. I feel happier and more fulfilled when I can confidently say after any day that I have made progress towards my goals and become more knowledgeable in fields I am interested in.
