About Thomas Kong

As a cloud data engineer, what drives me the most is my desire to solve problems at scale by leveraging modern solutions: cloud microservices infrastructure, big data warehousing, orchestration and automation, and data pipelines. I love to build things and getting my hands dirty (figuratively) with technologies like AWS, Airflow, Kubernetes, Snowflake and Kafka. Some of my key contributions in this space include configuring a connection pooler to optimise the performance of our RDS Postgres DB, building a Kafka-based publishing pipeline that sources data from Snowflake and sends it downstream to an Oracle DB and setting up an ML model orchestration platform using Apache Airflow, configured using Helm and deployed on an AWS EKS cluster.
